We hold a naming ceremony. Not a translation service.

Tell us who you are — or who the person is. We ask ten questions. Then we compose three Chinese name proposals, each from a completely different direction:

音名 · By Sound — characters that carry the rhythm of your name, each chosen for meaning as well as sound

根名 · By Root — drawn from what your name originally meant when it was first given, centuries ago

志名 · Ji3 Ming4 — built entirely around who you are. Nothing translated. Everything considered.

You choose the one that fits. Then the carving begins.

What arrives

· The hand-carved stone seal in 篆書 Seal Script

· The proof impression — the first press in vermillion ink on rice paper, made by the master before the seal leaves the workshop. It ships with your seal.

· The name card — your characters, their meaning, a poetic line, and your name's pronunciation in both Cantonese (Jyutping) and Mandarin (Pinyin)

· Vermillion cinnabar ink paste

· Presentation box

· Digital seal files — JPEG, PNG, SVG

The carving

Every seal is hand-carved by master craftsmen across Hong Kong and mainland China — each with a minimum of thirty years of practice. Not laser-cut. Not machine-engraved. Bit by bit, by hand.

Before it leaves the workshop, it is pressed once in vermillion ink and inspected. If the impression is not right, it is carved again.
